Iron Stars - hertes-infiltration-nmc

@Rodger Landon (Corn) , @Nephthys @Dr. Alaric Moorfield and @Dasvan find themselves quickly reinforced on the bridge of the captured Chimeran battleship by two squads of battered looking NMC Marines. The fighting has been vicious in the lower compartments especially but now the ship is yours, and as it sails to rejoin the fleet there is a bump against the airlock a deck below as the Farscape comes to connect with the capital ship. New orders , an out of breath runner quickly exclaims. A Revolution is going to begin on Hertes, a nearby Chimeran world and fleet command has chosen this group to do it. The Farscape is docked a deck below this one and is replete with medical services and an opportunity to rest during the jump there. The Farscape is the most advanced ship in the Cooperative inventory , and it is expected to carry you well into the defensed enemy system.

”New orders already? I guess this is what war is like.”, The ‘Tre thought in his head as he moseyed on down to the nearest workbench. His injuries, not that he had any, could wait; pulling out the laser pistol first, Yalone took it apart each individual piece finding its resting place on a piece of cloth he had rolled out. He had done this many times before, but this time was a bit different as he clean the smattering of blood off of the weapon for the first time. If someone tried to get his attention, it took more than a simply hello as the ‘Tre was rather lost in thought. After a through cleaning, Yalone pieced the weapon back together noting the simple hum of the weapon signifying its readiness to be used once more. Doing the same for the revolver, Yalone took extra care here making sure to keep the barrel and chambers free of any moisture or loose debris. Polishing over a barrel that read ’Live for tomorrow.’, Yalone nodded continuing his idle work…

“ New orders? Damn I’ve got a lot to prepare than. Can you send the brief to my comm pad? I’ll read it over while I get the gear packed.”

"Kickass! I was worried we were gonna be stuck here kicking our feet til this dumb thing got dragged all the way back to friendly space. I'd much rather get off this hunk of metal and do something planetside." Kaia jumped up, grabbing the ceiling and flipping herself vertically, so that she was upside down to the rest of the room, and paced back and forth. "A revolution huh? How the hell do we start one of those? Give the peasants a buncha laser pistols? How do Chimerans even live? Either of you know?"

"Probably something related to those bug pods we saw passing through parts of the ship, or we could ask some of the new friends we made on the bridge. Who knows how it works once you get humans involved."

“ As for starting one I’ve got a portable comm server we can set up on the surface to connect disparate groups. If we can organize some force to take out their air defenses taking over the planet shouldn’t be to complicated. “

Kaia dropped down to her feet in front of Annie, tilting her head to one side. "An' what makes ya think they're gonna want to help us against their own people? Are we offering them something? Gonna just make up a buncha stuff propaganda-style?"

Always happens that way in the holovids." Kaia skulked across the bridge, going to wherever the surrendered soldiers were, if they were still available. "Do any of ya speak normal? Does anyone else here speak bug?"

(I think our two new folks will be joining us here too so we won’t jump to the new system until we do. Nobody knows the Chimeran language, we don’t really have any examples of their written or spoken language in enough volume for a database to be collected but we do have translator torcs in the ship locker that can very roughly translate what you’re saying for their slave species since we do know their languages )

Annie writes out a message for her commanding officer on her commpad.

For the Hertes infilitration assignment I'd like to put in a formal request that a medical personal be assigned to the infiltration force. Not only will this improve the survivability of the mission, but in addition being able to provide medical aid would be a great way to ingratiate ourselfs to the slave population. There are two new sounds on the airlock door as @真鳥 and @Singysinger are both waiting on the other side. Penelope looks like a fish out of water despite their tough soldiery exterior, paying extra close attention to everything with a mix of disappointment and marvel on their face. Spartos seems more reserved , a knife in a consecrated holster on their waist and a hood pulled back to reveal a serious face. It looks as through your request for help has been met and the team meant to start a Revolution on Hertes is now a bit bigger and a bit more skilled.

Annie extends a hand to shake for each of the newcomers. If accepted her confidence makes the weak grip of her handshake feel crushing. “ Welcome aboard!”

Spartos walked forward. Normally he had a very nonchalant manner, but being involved in a full operation such as this had given him an intensity he didn’t often have anymore. He took Annie’s hand for a shake. His grip was firm and unforgiving, and his voice was deep as he spoke in a clipped tone. “Pleasure. We’ve been briefed. Briefly.” (edited)

(This is what we know about our destination. Anything on the World Anvil is information the players would know, or would be able to easily look up)

(so a planet and a moon connected by a space station and two armed ones with a few patrol ships, sounds fun.) Rodger was a large figure in his powered armor he leaned up against a wall giving an idle wave to the newest additions to the squad. "Sergeant Rodger Landon. If you've heard anything you know we'll have our work cut out for us. Plenty of ground to cover and secured space access. It might be a bit lean getting there as well, but we'll be glad of the numbers when we arrive. I'll try and keep you safe as much as I can."

With everyone aboard, the pilots are looking at a three day jump to the destination system, during which the ship will be in the dimension of spike space. There will be large amounts of hours of nothingness for everyone to get to know one another, it seems. There is a puff of air as the airlock disengages from the docking umbilical, and the crew begin turning the Farscape away from the victorious NMC fleet in this system, heading toward new dangers, and new opportunity.

Penny’s hands stayed in the pockets of her jacket as her eyes wandered around the ship. She wore an unimpressed expression on her face. “Can’t say I know much more than they gave me in the briefing… I heard about the slaves and couldn’t help but jump on the opportunity.” She inhaled sharply through her nose and finally stuck out her cold metal hand toward Annie to shake. “Penny.”

“Agreed.” Spartos leans against the wall too and looks to Rodger. “Sounds like a tough job, Sergeant. I’m no soldier, but I’m handy in a scrap.” He takes a look around as well, examining the rest of the team. It was certainly a motley group, and he figured their diversity would be an asset. (edited)

“Ain’t nothing to it.”, The ‘Tre said in a rough southern accent as he walked up to the two newcomers. An alien in every word of the sense, having a very conical head shape, 4 beady black eyes, as well as a row of sharp angular teeth, “The name’s Yalone, Yalone Cassidy. Nice to meet ya both.” He wore a large dueling coat, black slacks, brown boots, a white button up shirt, and even had on a ridiculous belt and belt buckle… the buckle brandishing NMC in big golden letters.

While her copper-plated left hand shook with Annie, Penny quickly drew her right hand from her jacket and aimed a finger-gun at the cowboy. Bang! The sour expression on her freckled face relaxed into an entertained smirk. "A pleasure, pard'ner." She tipped an imaginary hat to Yalone in order to emphasize the accent.

Wordlessly taking in the ‘Tre’s appearance and showing only a vaguely amused look at Penny’s joking, Spartos replied curtly, “Spartos Redimere. You sound sure.” He drew back the cloak he wore over his armored vacc suit.

Yalone smirked equally as much as Penny, “A pleasure indeed.” “Ain’t so much sure, just… intuition? Ya somethin’ like that.”, The ‘Tre winked? He blinked with only one of his four eyes towards Spartos, whatever that fully meant was up to him.

Whatever it was he was supposed to get, Spartos didn’t get it. “I see. I’ll go with your instinct on that. This looks like a capable bunch.” He left a lot unsaid, like how he was glad to be with such a capable group after working alone for so long, and how he was glad to be on a mission to make a real difference. Conversation goes on over the next few days as everyone learns a bit about one another, and the conversation slowly drags out to polite small talk, and then to the silence of everyone making their own individual preparations before entering the system. The Farscape's crew sends a chime through the vessel just before the spike jump is due to end, and as you assemble the sensor officer announces the translation back to real space is complete, and the Farscape is not detected. The intelligence report looks to be accurate in terms of fleet elements in the system, and the orbital defenses. The planetary map has several sites of interest on it, but none of them are labeled due to the Protectorate's spy ship only being able to get close enough for an orbital pass. The crew estimates about six hours to slowly crawl in system, avoiding the scanning ranges of the various patrol ships and platforms. In that time, the away team should make a decision about where to land.

(Looking at the map you'll see some cities and other stamps, we don't know much of anything about what's actually there, and turning scanners on will probably get us seen from the ground, but we can pick a spot and take the wraith shuttle down, and see whats going on)

(Top middle looks to be the larger, more potential? But the landmass on the left looks more rural, maybe easier to uplift the slaves since there’ll likely be more of them and less authority present?)

"If we're going to be dropped having several potential areas to scout before we would have to steal a boat or call for evac would make sense. I think the north western string of Islands would give us enough space to keep to the wilderness, and be close to a potential settlement."

“Yes. Easy to slip away in chaos. Good thinking.”

"Works for me, being on this cramped shuttle with all of you for this long is beginning to make me want ta perform manual brain surgery with a claw." Kaia complained, gesticulating to the best of her ability in the cramped container.

Having picked out your destination the crew makes ready to get the ship into orbit. The locked doors leading into the wraith shuttle bay are unlocked and you see the matte black aircraft sitting on its landing claws. The comms officer is here getting the expert system pilot installed in the cramped frontal canopy and you can also see several large containers of sedatives from the ship med bay are being loaded into the various intake ports along the vehicle corresponding with the pod like seats inside

Yalone eyes Kaia from across the ship edging ever so shortly away from her after the mention of brain surgery. “Ah good, looks like we’re gettin’ ready.”, the ‘Tre clambers forward making his way onto the shuttle.

Penny whistled flatly at the reveal. “Nice bird.” She started moving to board. “Sooner we get to work the better, eh?”

As he approaches the shuttle, Spartos has the merest hint of a smile on his face. He didn’t have many good feelings lately, but he had one now. He replies to Penny, “Yeah. Time to go to work.” Patting the holster carrying his sacred dagger as he speaks, he boards as well.

Rodger was quiet as he approached the vessel. Waiting while it was prepared for boarding. (edited)

"Alright" the comms officer says, "I assume no one here has traveled via wraith shuttle before. Not many have. I'm going to give you a brief rundown of how this works, and what to expect once you sit down in one of the crash seats. You're not going to enjoy this, but it's the only way to get to the ground without getting picked up by sensors. "

He stands at the ramp, barring you from entering and pushing past him. "Once you sit down, there is going to be a medical scan. Wraith shuttles work by looking like orbital junk. You're going to be put into a brief medical coma once you sit down in your assigned seat. The dosages have been carefully measured for each of you. Upon being knocked out, the entire cabin is going to be filled with an impact ablating gel, and the wraith shuttle will be released on a trajectory on course with it tumbling from orbit to strike the ground. To anyone on the ground, there are going to be no life signs, no signs of engine burn, or any sort of controlled descent. You're going to look like space junk crashing into the planet, and once you're below the horizon of their radar the droid pilot will control your spin, level the craft out, and will plow into the ground on a more controlled course. We might lose the shuttle at that point, we might not. You will all be quite safe. Upon hitting the ground, the gel will be vented, and you'll be woken up with the counter to these sleep chems. You'll feel groggy for a few minutes, maybe even sick. It will pass quickly, and more importantly you'll be on the ground safe. I understand its unconventional, this is a tactic we picked up from the Tenebrian Empire when they infiltrated Gudrun repeatedly, during the first post-scream war. It works, and you'll be able to continue your mission with the benefit of some element of surprise"

Spartos registers the information with a soft grunt. “At least we won’t feel it. Pretty unconventional.”

“It’s a departure from how normal wraith shuttles work but when this tactic was last used , infiltrators got onto the surface of one of the most heavily monitored and defended worlds that sprang up post -Scream. It works, but it’s going to be uncomfortable. (We have six folks and wraith shuttles fit 8, so that extra space will be for the bikes- another reason I wanted to keep the landing count npc free )

“Seems awful useful. I don’t know about the rest of ya, but I got everything I need.”, Yalone passes through with his backpack freshly packed showing the bulge of supplies they might need in the coming days on the surface taking his seat. (edited)

"Sounds better than a nap in a freezer, at any rate..." Penny boarded after Yalone. "I've got enough, I hope." She found her seat and sighed as she settled in. The jittering of her legs made it obvious she wasn't quite excited for the trip.

Annie wheels in the various parts for the bikes, and takes a seat. “ can’t say I’m looking forward to this.”

Spartos gets on board and finds a seat as well, teasing in a serious voice, “See you on the other side.”

Penny raised her red eyebrows sarcastically. "All very comforting, I'm sure." She took a deep breath, still a little shaky. "On the other side, right."

Once the short briefing was finished rodger strapped himself into one of the egg seats. "Always good to start with a nap."

You're each directed to a seat where the med tech takes one last look over everyone. Each seat's formula is tailored to who will be sitting there, and after a brief thumbs up he exits the ship. The ramp closes and each of you hears a short hiss before the world goes quiet. You awaken gently. Light is beginning to enter the troop bay and the impact retardant foam is beginning to vent out of the shuttle through special sluices into a holding tank beneath the deck grate as to not leave any trace behind. True to word, you arrive in a forest, about 20km from your destination on the western island chain and it seems you are here alone. Nothing suggests you've been spotted during your orbital descent, and the woods seem peaceful. A timer from ten minutes begins counting down, at which point the shuttle will head back into space on a long, weaving course avoiding as many ground based sensors as possible. A small panel with a message from the ship on it suggests getting yourselves and your equipment offloaded before that timer runs out. (edited)

Annie rushed to get the gear and bike parts off the vessel.

Rodger helped hefting his own bike and some of the heavier equipment not wanting to leave anything on the shuttle for its return trip.

Kaia grabs her bag and flexes her wings, leaping into the air and scanning the area to get an overview of what was around as the rest unloaded.

Spartos hops out leisurely and also helps with the heavier loads after checking and taking his pack with him.

Penny groaned and mumbled something about five more minutes as she awoke. She was groggy and wiped the sleep from her eyes before stomping her way off the shuttle. “Smoother than I expected…”

Yalone roused from their self induced cat nap and shot up out of his seat once his senses were fully working again. This proved to be a… fatal move as a sudden rush of green lit his face. Running off the ship, the ‘Tre could be heard expelling his morning breakfast.

Returning back, a bit of upchuck on his sleeve Yalone gathered his things and exited the shuttle. “Ya… smooth.”, After a brief moment of collecting himself, he’d turn to the group. “So what’s the plan, do we want ta move out and make camp first? Or head ta a city and see what we’re workin’ with?”

As Kaia ascends to just above the treetops , it looks like this forest stretches in all directions. The settlement is 10km to the east by a rough estimate. Clouds and fog make it hard to see much, as it looks like a sea breeze is rolling in. To the west, you see nothing but dense forest from here to the very far off western coast. It’s much further than the settlement. The land is long but narrow and the north and south running directions have coastlines too far to see. It doesn’t look like anything exists north of here with enough real estate to break the rolling tree cover. To the south about five kilometers from you it looks like the Chimeran have set up a logging camp, you cannot see much through the tree cover, just the three columns of smoke from fires on the campground and the occasional crack of a whip.

Rodger moved to Yalone lightly patting him on the back. "Probably we should get the bikes built first though we could move into a bit more cover."

“Then let’s. Should get set up and head in.” Spartos takes a moment to let his lingering nausea pass then shoulders his pack and offers to help carry any heavier equipment.

Rodger took a toolkit out of his pack and opened the case of Paris that would be his hovercycle starting to get to work on assembling it.

“Find anything up there?”, Yalone shouted up at Kaia as he too proceed to help with the assembling of the cycles. (I have fix-2 and fixer(tier 1) if speed matters in putting these together.)

(Speed isn't really the issue at the moment. i think the first big choice ahead of us is going for the logging camp, or toward the settlement)

“So which way? Liberating a camp might mean more of a fight, but the settlement might be the bigger prize. Could roll into town with the forces we free in the camp…” Spartos continues musing, to himself as much as out loud, as he helps in what ways he can. (edited)

“ I can blend in easily at the settlement.” Annie says as she waves a hand over her faces causing her entire appearance to shift to that of another person.

"I think our plan is solid, let you blend in and take the temperature, stir the pot if you need to make sure as many people as possibleare on our side when it comes to time for violence."

“So we just gonna let whatever’s happenin’ at that camp continue? I hate to be like this, but what if we mess up and they come running into the help the settlement?”

“ That’s a fair concern. My thought is it will be easier to blend in at the settlement and assess threat. For all we know they got a gravtank somewhere ready to move in the moment the camps act up. I’m not opposed to going guns blazing on the camp if we feel that’s right.” (edited)

“I agree. Better to lay low and scout before mounting an attack. We’re no use to those people if we get killed.”

"I'd hate to sit by and watch, but it'd be good to know what we're dealing with."

"My main worry is they attack us thinking we're coming to kill them both."

“ If we can find a secure preferably hidden location in the settlement or the logging camp we could deploy this.” Annie says as she pats a black electronic device shaped like a box. “I packed a comm server so we could quickly send out a message to anyone nearby. We may even want to send out a message to everyone in the radius as a declaration of intent to rile up the slave class.” “ If no one is opposed to it our plan could be to get me to a defendable position so I can broadcast as long as possible.” (edited)

“Hhmm… alright alright. Ya convinced me. I just hate leavin’ them out there.”, Yalone said finishing setting up the bike he was working on. “I like the plan Annie, though it might be too early to pull a stunt like that. This ain’t the only settlement on the planet. We don’t want ‘em chasing us around the whole planet.”

Penny hummed to herself. "A call for revolution might ring a bit louder if we've helped liberate some of their people."

(yeah we probably want to do something to divide their attention first so they dont devote 100% of their resources to a manhunt)

"If you need a distraction I do need to try out some of this gear. I could see how heavily defended the camp is while you all sneak into one of the settlements. With any luck we'll end up freeing two places."

“Gonna take ‘em all alone? That’s risky. Recon is better.”

(Happy to run with either, a plan hasn't really been settled on so I don't want to throw people in different directions)

“ So how about we scout out their forces and take our next step from there. Worst case I can go integrate myself into the commute while you all take the camp. “

“Sounds good to me.”

"Fine with me, I'll take an excuse to stay in armor. So where are we scouting first?"

“ Why don’t we check out the settlement. If the place is well fortified you can drop me off as you swing back to work on the camp. “

“That sounds like a plan to me.”

“I can get behind that.”

The woodlands are quiet and you see no evidence of nesting birds or larger game here, almost as though it has been hunted to extinction. The group does find clustered of blue bulb like berries growing together from long willow-like fronds on trees. They don't seem to have been touched by any of the creatures that live in these woods. This seems to be the primary feature of the woods, along with a lack of undergrowth due to the thick tree cover blocking much of the ambient light from getting this low. The settlement sits about 500m from the edge of the forest and notably is characterized by 5m high wooden palisade walls that run the length of the settlement. These look to be new constructions, mostly for containment than actual security and you do not see anyone patrolling the battlements there. Most of the buildings seem to be lower than the walls, but you can make out something that looks like a town hall, some sort of security or garrison type building, and a building more modern than the rest that is of Chimeran construction.

“Hey Kaia… ya think you could lift me up a tall tree? I want ta get a better vantage point.”, Yalone turns to Kaia mentioning his request. The ‘Tre planned to take his sniper rifle out of its back sling to get a better look inside the wall.

"I'll be honest, even with this...", he starts to speak patting his sniper which is now slung back up on his back, "... there ain't much I can see. I'm sure people are there, they just aren't big enough to see." "My vote is always on the side o' caution. We can always go gun ablazin' when the time calls." (edited)

"Sounds like we slip in and do recon, figure out our assets, and go from there." Spartos was never one to pass up a fight, but he also stayed open to more discreet routes.

(I think that's the best we can do from out here, we're far and didn't roll well, so something needs to change the situation before we can get anything else)

"Yessir, let's get to gettin' then.", Yalone says taking off towards the camp. If no one had any other means of stealth or infiltration, the 'Tre was on a mission of ground infiltration and stealth.

A kilometer from the settlement you stumble across a Chimeran patrol in the woods. Three of the Chimeran and something that looks like a mix between a tracking dog and a land bound shark are 10m from you across the clearing. You’ve stumbled into one another and they look to be preparing to run to the settlement to report you. (Initiative )

Pulling out a short kinetic knife, Yalone gripped the hilt an waiting knowing he wasn't the best in melee, "If we shoot now, they'll hear us down their." The 'Tre called out closed the distance towards one of the Chireman soilders taking a total defense stance. (Moving into melee, and taking Total Defense, eot)

Penny rolled her left shoulder and brought her prosthetic hand into a fist. “Time to knock some heads…” She said under her breath before charging towards one of the patrol. She threw a quick left hook at her target. (20 to hit, 6 damage if i did that right)

Spartos rushes forward to re-engage the runner and swiftly thrusts his dagger.

There is a pained gurgle as the Chmeran messenger is cut down by the sacred knife, his message choked off and forgotten now. You look to be safe though someone will notice the patrol is missing before long.

Withdrawing his blade, Spartos cleans it and sheaths it before turning to Annie and asking calmly, “Shall we go back?” He walks to the bike and hopes in the seat once more.

" Do you mind checking that guy for medical supplies or anything of use while I keep the bike running?"

He looks back at the body and steps back out. “Good thinking.” He walks over to search the Chimeran for anything of use.

The Chimeran has what passes for their foodstuffs and a weapon and armorr fitted to their unique biology. If they have medicine on them it is too alien to be identified or of use.

“Can’t figure this stuff out. If we want to look at it there’s more with the others.” He walks back to the bike again prepared to go back with Annie.

Once spartos jumps on Annie moves to regroup with the others. “Before I forget to say it you did good back there. “

“So did you. That was some skilled driving. Wouldn’t mind having a good bike like this.”

" This one costed over a months pay, but if you want me to take for for a ride just let me know."

“Sure,” he replies, thinking that he had just gotten quite the ride chasing the patrol.

Penny was now sitting with her back to the tree she’d been using for support. When Annie and Spartos returned she offered them a weak wave. “You get ‘em?”

Walking over and kneeling down to check on her, Spartos grunts, “Yeah. How’s it looking?”

“Lookin’ like a hole in my gut… We probably shouldn’t hang around here too long though, huh?” Penny struggled to get up on her feet. “Ugh… I should be fine for now,” She groaned, “We need to get moving.”

Spartos smirks a bit at Penny’s bluntness, and would offer a hand to help her up. “You’ll live. And you’re right. Hold on.” Spartos bends down over one of the dead Chimerans and grabs one of their unique combat knives, trying to determine if it’s useable.

Yalone this whole time has been cleaning off his blood soaked hand and kinetic knife. Walking over to the wounded Penelope, the 'Tre helped the biotic limbed woman to her feet from the other side of Spartos's support, "I ain't seen nothin' like it. This thang sure does come in handy." He'd chuckle tapping the metal appendage with a couple fingers making some thudding pings.

"You could call it vintage." Penny chuckled in return, then winced from the shock of pain that came with it again. "Was a bit of a relic even when I got it... Cheaper that way, plus it works all the same." She mused while clenching and unclenching the fingers of her copper-plated hand.

Rodger moved over to his bike hovering it to where the group had gathered. His arm seemed to have mostly stopped bleeding but not before coloring the forearm of his armor a deep red. "Well whatever the plan was it just got accelerated. This group will be missed before too long and we'll have lost whatever advantage we carved out for ourselves."

"Well if I ever need a hand, I'll keep that in mind.", Yalone chuckled to himself as he helped Penny. Looking out at the bodies and then back to the group. "We ain't got a lot of time now... I say we take the camp and use whatever is there to mount and attack on the settlement. If we go to the city we'll only have til the end of the day at best to figure out a plan that might work. I ain't sure we can work that fast before cover is blown."

Spartos stowed the knife he looted and stood with the others. “Agreed. We’ll have enough time to stay low to do what we need to.” (edited)

Rodger shrugged. "It's about the same to me I figure we should head to whichever is closer, but if we're going to the camp we should get riding."

“ Are we good to continue to the camp in this state? I’m pretty sure penny’s a nose bleed away from bleeding out. “

"Penny do you know how ta shoot?", Yalone said gesturing to his sniper rifle. "We could have ya stay back and fire from afar."

“I’m not the worst shot…” Penny tapped the ‘Tre’s shoulder with her prosthetic hand then pointed it down to draw his attention to the holster on her hip. “Mag pistol, my ol’ reliable.”

Annie shakes her head. “ Love the bravado I really do, but let’s not make this a suicide mission just yet. With the jumper I can take miss full of stab wounds to the town. With just the two of us it will be easier to infiltrate and find a place to get medical help. “ “ How confident are you three in taking the logging camp?”

“That’s Miss One-Stab-Wound to you.”

"We have a medkit, are you sure that's a good idea, a patrol got taken out then someone shows up with a stab wound. If we're going to attack on our own you could just stay back. I'd say it depends, we wouldn't be as limited, but we don't know how many of them will be at the camp or if the workers can or will help us."

“ You all attacking the camp will be the ideal distraction for us to get in, and too be frank I think bringing Miss one stab wound into another fight will have me making a casualty report by the end of the skirmish. “

"If I get to use ma guns, fighin' won't be much of an issue.", Yalone noted the out of time woman's choice in weaponry smilin' a bit in the process. Yalone loved the finer things in life, a good insert alcohol scotch equivalent here, guns, and someone feisty enough to kill ya.

"If worse comes to worst, I guess I'm fine hanging back if we can at least get me patched up." Penny sighed, sounding slightly defeated. "Not quite ready to die yet."

Hearing the defeat in Penny's voice Annie turned to her and said " In the worst case scenario I'll need protection while I infiltrate anyways. I'd wager even while wounded your more use in a fight than me."

"I can play bodyguard." Penny nodded. "If we're doing this, we can't waste any time."

Spartos had been silent to contemplate the best option. “Makes sense to send the fighters to the camp to rile them up. Should give you enough of a diversion to get into town and see what you can do. We can hope to rejoin after the camp is in chaos. Not looking to fight the war ourselves, we’re just the instigators right now, correct?” Realizing that was the most he had said so far, it seemed Penny’s situation had made him a lot less nonchalant than he normally was. Looking from the treeline at the edge of the lumber camp you can see it consists of a service road leading out of the region where trucks bring processed planks and logs back to the town the other half of your team is scouting. It looks like 100 slaves and 20 or so overseers live here, arranged into three work shifts so there is a party in the woods processing trees, one in the camp running the mill, and one eating and resting off shift at all times for round the clock operation. Nothing has been one in the way of forestry management here, saplings have not been replanted and soil anchors have not been used where stumps have been removed. The Chimerans look to be planning on just stripping the region before moving on to other resource collection sites. A small graveyard near the camp indicates at least 50 of the locals have died under the charge of their overlords.

The camp itself is arranged into three barracks buildings for the work crews, a secure building for the overseers, a small camp office, a cantina truck and tarp covered eating area, and an outwardly pointing spiked fence 1m tall, meant as a barrier against casually wandering into the camp outside of two checkpoints, one on the logging road and once facing the woods.

Directly east of the camp the land has been leveled and paved for a small landing pad in the event a flyer from elsewhere on the planet needs to attend the locals or their guards for some reason. Currently it is unoccupied and there are no craft here.

"I think we should try to take out one of the groups at a time, possibly the one in the forest if we can circle around to it, maybe we could get some of the workers to join us if they have any fight left in them, it doesn't seem like they have any great love for the ones making them work."

"Seems doable. We don't have much room for recon, so getting among a group to find out our assets is probably the best option. If we do it right, we could rally a majority of the camp before the whole enemy force is gathered against us." (edited)

“I do agree… Start with the forest and head in. If y’all left me off first, I can try and take you out from a distance to start to brawl off right.”

"We could try splitting this group too if you want, but I don't want any of us or the inhabitants caught in the crossfire if possible, also are you sure, youd be left on your own potentially. I figured something simple like tell them we were freeing them while only shooting the bugs best case they help hopefully at worst they run. Once I start shooting the heavy cutter it might get a bit loud for speeches."

“I’m with Rodger. We shouldn’t split up further other than to take firing positions. We tell them it’s a jailbreak and start the chaos. If they stay, great, if not, we do what we can.”

"Alright you two try to keep up then we'll find a spot in the woods where we can get a cleaner shot." Rodger hopped on his hoverbike and waited for the others to get closer to the part of the work camp in the woods.

(Just need some rough ranges everyone’s staged away from the camp so we have an idea of short /long range for attacks and any possible execution shots )

(Probably pretty close since i think the plan was get close along the tree line to the part in the woods, possibly try to talk to some of the slaves if we can. I think the limiting factor is the thrown weapon range for spartos. Also yeah did you two want to try for execution shots cause heavy cutter is loud.) (edited)

(I have a sniper rifle as well so I can be anywhere and still be in range. Given your top’s ranges. I say we try and set up execution shots and then move in. I wouldn’t want to be more than two full turns of movement away from them though. Idk how far that is exactly)

(10m is one move unless they double, so if we wanted to double move after executing we can be 40-50m away, or 20-30m to normal move and keep firing in either case probably)

A work patrol is our right now consisting of three Chimeran guards and a slave master. Twelve captured piggen and humans look to be their victims here, working at the stumps and fallen Timbers 50m from your semi circle of shooters

Scoping in, Yalone got a good view of the wooded area through the scope of his rifle. Finding a nice resting position against the length of a still standing tree, Yalone honed in on the slave master gauging his scope down to fit within the close range of this shot. click click click Breaking the moment of concentration, the marksman motioned to the other two silently that he was good to go.

The ‘Tre would aim for one of the remaining two slave master’s that was closer towards Spartos feeling their higher rank Rodger could handle himself. After the second laser beam hit him, Spartos had stopped in his tracks and watched as the last slaver went down. He grimaced and muttered, “Good riddance. Damn…”

Yalone reloaded the sniper and put it back around his shoulders using the sling to keep it secure. “Thank ya kindly. Now that this has popped off, I don’t think going in quite will do much good. If you think that’s the best way to go, I’m game.”, Yalone spoke as he walked in over to Spartos. “Sorry I couldn’t shoot ‘em down faster. How ya feelin’?”

Spartos did his best to conceal the pain as he turned to the ‘Tre. “I’ll live. Good shots. Guess we’d better move out quick, then.”

"Well not quiet, but we should still engage carefully especially since we might have to go inside after them. My thoughts were we didn't want to get caught between them when more come, and we should have the bikes close in case we need to make a quick getaway. We don't want to do anything that will give their numbers an advantage." He paused a moment while he keyed something into his compad. "I figured I could send my bike to make a passby then meet back with us as we advanced on the closest building possibly see if they've already got into firing positions."

“Hmph. At least we’re drawing them out. We’ll have to hole up or get out and regroup.”

"We'll see how soon they show up, but I have a few ideas depending on how well equipped they are. At least this means things must be going alright for the other two."

There's whining feedback for a split second before Penny's voice comes through on comms. "Knew you guys'd do it. Think you're in shape to hold 'em off?"

"We can hold'em off, just make sure ya get undercover soon.", Yalone would chirp in as his scope trained on the edge of the barracks.

" Way ahead of you we have established a safe house in the settlement. You all better pick up the pace. " Annie churps over the communicator.

"We cleared a third of the camp, hopefully the non chimerans either join us or head towards you. Do you know what type of vehicle the incoming group was in? Or how many?"

"Well it seems like the faster we clear out the ones here the better so we won't get sandwiched between them and the oncoming soldiers. There are undoubtedly more Chimeran here, but they're either buttoned up in buildings, or are on the southern side of camp chasing your bike

“Oh we can make that work.”, Yalone says patting both of his holsters. “Spartos if you don’t feel you can lead, I can take point on this as well.”

“That would be appreciated. I won’t be trying a move like that again.” He rests a hand on his dagger as the other clutches at the cauterized hole in his shoulder. “I’ll watch your back and still kill my share of these bastards.”

Unsure of where the chimerans would be Rodger made his way to the closest barracks first getting ready to enter and clear it.

You can hear the sounds of shifting and panicked calls for quiet inside. The voices are human ,and you don't hear the harsh barking chirp of any Chimeran overseers mixed in with them.

Rodger calls out to the buildings as a whole. "Do not be afraid. We are here to liberate this camp and this planet. Stay inside and keep safe for now if you wish. If any are willing and able you can help us take the camp, we will provide arms and protection. I've seen the graveyard here I know how you have been mistreated. This ends now."

Rodger pointed the two others to the building from which the shot rang out. "As good a starting point as any."

Your shot blows chunks of masonry off the front of the building and a tumble of stones crash into the street below. You're unsure if the gunman was also hit.

Using this bit of charismatic display from Rodger, Yalone beckoned Spartos in further as he cocked the hammer back on his revolver hoping to get in closer without being noticed.

Spartos unsheathes his dagger and follows Yalone in, flipping and twirling it anxiously as he hopes to avoid further injury.

You both make it to the door of the town hall building and can hear commotion inside as the Chimeran resistance looks to be huddling within, trying to ensure their stronghold is secure. The door is wood banded in metal, with a large ring to pull it open. It is surely locked from the other side.

In a hushed whisper, Yalone turned and spoke to Spartos, “I can get us through the door, or the wall, but it’s gonna be loud either way. Got any better ideas?”

“It’ll give Rodger an advantage if we coordinate. I say do it.”

Yalone nods towards Spartos and takes the revolver around to the right side of the town hall. Putting the barrel into a crack of crevasse, it would start to hum with a bright red energy as a runic detonating shot charged up. “Might want to take a couple steps back for this one.”, he said with a grin to Spartos as he radio’d in Rodger. “Alright Rodger… 3… 2… 1… BANG”

The shot blows the door off its hinges and through the smoke you charge into the building. The Chimeran standing behind the door was sliced through by shrapnel and looks to be dead

Yalone swiftly enters after the action of chaos and both weapons pointing in front looking for a place to bunker behind as a hail of fire was likely about to come there way. (Looking to take cover and assess what we are dealing with in the building.)

Spartos follows his lead while watching and remaining ready to rush any Chimerans left standing.

The door is kicked open after the shot, and you see a staircase leading up into the second floor of the building where the offices and work rooms are. There is certainly sound from above as the Chimeran within the building try to establish whatever they can as a defensive position. Roger, breathing heavily, manages to catch up to you as you begin tackling the stairwell.

"Hey Spartos, didn't you mention somethin' about havin' a grenade?", Yalone says with a grin pointing up the stair way.

“You heard wrong.” Spartos can’t resist letting out a small smile of anticipation. “Though it would be great fun if I did.”

"I could give our upstairs neighbors a bit of a surprise, you might want to take some cover though." Rodger smiled as he pointed the heavy cutter upward.

“It’s worked thus far. As always I’ll watch our backs. Take out the hopefully weakened stragglers.” He keeps his knife out and at the ready behind Rodger.

“Oh hell. Must have been one of the other two.”, Yalone says scratching the side of his temple with the loading barrel of his revolver. “By all means Rodger, go give ‘em hell. I’ll be right behind ya then.”, Yalone gestures with the other gun towards the stairs.

Yalone pulled up with both barrels pointed towards the pair of Chimeran and took both shoots simultaneously.

Spartos follows up and tosses his knife at the nearest one.

Spartos looks to the heavy cutter with a grin as his dagger appears back in his hand. “I’ll never get tired of that.”

"Ain't much with your two's ways in the realm of personal touch, but I'll be damned if it ain't effective.", Yalone says with a grin reloading both of the big iron and laser power weapons. Yalone keeps the weapons draw and continues at the head of the pack up the stairs.

The gap looks too far to be jumped unassisted due to the large hole blown exactly where the stairs once had a landing.

Staring over the edge, Spartos turns to Rodger. “What now?”

"Shoot the rest of them? The point of blowing the hole was surprising them and keeping them from getting to us." Rodger looks for another target to turn his heavy cutter on.

“I ain’t got a bead on them.”, Yalone said in frustration cursing under his breathe. Taking a special crafted bullet out of his pack, Yalone slapped in an icy shell that seemed to turn the dormant runes on the revolver blue. Soon the barrel backing to fog over like a icy northern lake. Aiming towards the part of the stairs detected from the floor, Yalone aimed to you his Freeze Fire shot to craft some sort of icy platform. (Using my last Rune Shot, Freeze Fire. After this I’ll need to craft more.)

The platform for the moment looks to hold but you’re not sure how long you’ll have it available for. The way into further parts of the building is clear- and once you round the corner and head up the other half of the stairs you will be on the command level, no doubt running into more of the enemy

“C’mon Rodger, it ain’t gonna hold forever.”, Yalone pushed forward and once everyone was through he slowed down checking his equipment. “It looks like that’s my last trick of the day. I won’t be doing any more fancy shooting like that for awhile.”, Yalone turns up an empty pouch where he had been pulling those specially crafter bullets from.

"It's alright. You did well we'll finish up here then decide if we want to face the rest from here or cross by rope then finish off the ones that are left or coming in that vehicle."

Spartos examined the makeshift ice bridge with a faintly curious expression. He wasn’t a complete stranger to the combination of technology and the arcane, so after a moment of looking he joined the others. “It might be good to use their vantage point against them when they approach the building.”

From upstairs there is a shout, your conversation interrupted as four Chimeran surge down the stairs toward the icy platform, bayonets fixed.

“Things got a bit hairy there… sorry about that Spartos, I saw an opportunity for you to do some real work there. I’ll be sure to warn you next time.”, Yalone said after rapidly reloading his weapons.

Coming down from the tension of battle, Spartos cleans and sheathes his blade, breathing heavily. “It’s a neat trick. That was decidedly better than my last performance. Let’s follow Roger.”

Rodger turned back to the floor up the stairs ready for some kind of last ditch ambush.

Yalone nodded, "Alright then.", and then started to follow Rodger up the stairs.

Heading up the stairs you arrive at the command center where four human slaves are working at controls and computer,s trying to keep the base running despite the attack. The largest Chimeran any of you have ever seen, with an extra set of arms stands 10m away in the center of the room, its lower two arms holding whips of braided metal and leather. Its top arms each end in a flourished pistol of alien manufacture.

You can see two gouts of black colored blood spurt from the creature as the rounds pass through and into it. It is a hulking lunk of a Chimeran brute, and you sense it has plenty of fight left in it. It chooses to fire its twin pistols at Roger, trying to end the threat of heavy weapons fire.

The champion is opened from neck to what passes for groin by the strong blade. Steaming guts spill from the wound and the creature falls to its knees and then over onto its side to gurgle out the last of its life

"Good work Spartos." Rodger looks around at the cowering mosk. "Hopefully at least one of you understands me. Don't fear us, you are free, I would ask that you help us or at least stop coordination of the Chimeran's efforts. We plan on liberationg this planet and you stand at the heart of our effort, but I fear the battle here isn't quite finished yet. There are still slavers outside and more on the way."

It looks as though now free from consequence, the locals will do what they can to assist.

Splattered in gore and still panting, Spartos cleans and sheathes his blades as he asks, “What now? They’ll swarm the place, we need to regroup.”

Slapping either gun in it's holster, Yalone traveled over to the command tower to see what all they were dealing with in terms of equipment and to see if anything might need fixed. "I'm gonna give this the once over, maybe see if they have anything to help bandage ya up."

Rodger collected the fallen Chimeran's pistols. "We have taken care of these and the patrol out in the woods you should arm yourselves if you are going to join us. Help these two secure this control point there are a few more guns on the stairs. If there is an armory or something like it here get as equipped as you can."

With the fall of the command center and the fires spreading at the slave camp nearby it looks as though the Chimeran are pulling back out of the area for the moment , allowing at least a few hours of respite. @Dasvan and @真鳥 arrive an hour after the command center is taken leading a column of 200 fire lashed slaves finally mad enough to fight against their oppressors.

Seeing their teammates approach with more freed slaves, Spartos lets a wicked grin stretch across his face. “Did you two have as much fun as we did?”

"I uh..." Penny squinted and stared, she barely recognized Spartos underneath the layer of blood and viscera. "Don't think so, big guy."

“Kid you don’t look to good yourself.”, Yalone said with a bit of a sigh. He seemed particularly interested in making sure the robotic arm was still working as intended but made no notions to fix the appendage since that could be seen as insensitive.

Annie is in full nmc battle dress as she guides the fire freed forward. “ Things went mostly smoothly on our end. Sorry to cut straight to hard stuff but what sort of equipment do we have here? Can we get the fire freed on them, also I need a place to hook up our remote server to so we can contact command.” Annie let off a barrage of questions.

"I think not much more than what we came with and what we were able to seize from the Chimerans. There are probably some more guns in the woods, or in the barracks, that combined with various equipment that could be repurposed as makeshift weapons. The barracks seem like the most hardened buildings. That plus whatever you can get command to drop if anything, but the thinking was we would be mostly on our own from here I believe." Rodger tries to see if he can signal his bike to return.

(The bike can return. The Chimeran are going to take about a half day to regroup, so we have enough time for everyone to rest. Everyone will heal HP equivalent to their character level, recover 1 strain if any has been taken, and if anyone needs a "day" to craft anything, that can happen now)

(This is directed towards Rodger.) “So what’s your story?”, The ‘Tre asked as he held bits of discarded scrap metal and thick irons. Taking a hot rod, Yalone began welding the two pieces together without issue.

Rodger helped by putting small NMC markings on the various sets of armor making a small effort to cover any chimeran emblems. "Not too much to tell my parents and brothers are bean counters. They were disappointed when I wanted to do something a little more hands on. No one can really be too angry if you join the army though especially with the need after the shaper war. I've been on a few missions now, even got to fight my own shaper tree. Sadly that was before I had the cutter there, but we dealt with it though there were a few casualties. Bouncing around on jobs for the NMC is the most of it, what about yourself?" (Sorry for the late response I was at a convention over the weekend and just got back home and to pc.)

Taking a saw, he took to the material with a drive, "Well I ain't be around as much as you has. Iragrate has been my home for many years now, used to work the local gas mining colonies down their as an excavator for the longest time. Though I never wanted to leave my home... had some pirates, Blue Rain Freeguild, came down and demanded to get some 'riches'. Thing is my pa and their group wasn't about to let some nobody run off with our stuff. One shoot out later, they ran with their tail between their legs.", Slowing down, the cowboy took a moment to gather his thoughts before continuing. "My pa didn't make it out, and neither did my ma and sis. They ain't had nothin' to do with nothin' and those good for nuthin's took 'em.", With a final thrust, Yalone cleaves through the piece of rebar.

Spartos, who had been resting in a corner, looked up at Yalone’s last statement. When he spoke, his voice carried a hint of melancholy. “You made them pay, right?”

"Not yet. Don't worry son, I will.", he says with a solemn chuckle.

“Good. Too few get the chance. That’s why we’re here, right? Fight for those who can’t.”

“That’s right, get ‘em back and get ‘em good.”, Yalone says with a grin as the welding begins once more.

(got it) The stairs are repaired and the command center is repaired as much as possible, with barricades being constructed immediately outside in all directions. A defensive ring sits 50m from the building, staffed by recently freed slaves with whatever scavenged weapons and armor they could find among the settlement. Black smoke on the horizon shows where the lumber camp and slave quarters are burning, and from that same direction the Chimeran will also be making their approach. No one is sure how many will come, or what armament they might have. A dozen long guns spread over fifty slaves doesn't seem like it will go far, as everyone else fights with reclaimed farming or industrial tools.

“Well looks like we got us some more fightin’… Hey Annie! Annie!”, Yalone shouted over to his fellow NMC member.

Annie double checks their weapons, and asks “ What’s up cowboy?”

“Want ta give our rousing rebels some readied words? Heh”, Yalone seems rather proud of his momentary alliteration skills.

“ not a bad call” Annie pulls up her commutator and opens the line to all rebels. “ I’m not gonna feed y’all any bullshit. Lets fuck these chimerans bastards up.”

Looking up from his rest, Spartos muses, “My type of speech. She’s a leader.”

"I could've done with a few more expletives, personally..." Penny sighed under her breath and racked her mag-pistol. "Still got me psyched to slay some slaver scum, all the same." She shot a sly smile at Yalone, seems she's caught the alliteration bug.

Rodger shrugged. "Whatever works to get people ready for what comes next is fine. We need to keep them from getting past the barriers. Hopefully we can take some of their vehicles without completely destroying them. Have our people with weapons hit them hard enough they try something stupid and the others can rush them when they get too close. Something simple that we can adapt once we've seen their men and methods."

“Heh. We ain’t got a lot, we gotta make sure every shot counts. Rodger, I like where your noggins at.”, Yalone said noting Penny’s word choice with a small chuckle. “Ta help does anyone here have any explosives? We could leave those slaver’s a nasty surprise to step on.”

(This is basically what we have set up. The command center is 3 floors tall and I’m assuming our shooters are in those. We have barricades set up in a circle 50m from the building where I’d imagine most of our slave militia and melee people are going to be )

Night passes as you all feverishly work, and those of you injured try to get some rest. As dawn's first light creeps over the horizon, you hear the buzzing of Approaching Chimeran forces.

Yalone laid down on the top floor of the command center and steadied his breathing as he shouldered the sniper rifle. Taking a peak, Yalone tried to see exactly what they were up against as he swept across the horizon slowly.

Rodger double checked the seals on his suit and the connection to his cutter making sure the battery in the armor was fresh so there would be no problems during the fight then doing the same with his tempest before finding a few good firing positions so as to be ready no matter which direction they approached from.

Spartos was down at the barricades and twirling his blade absentmindedly when he heard the commotion. Smiling faintly, he straightens and thumbs the belt of grenades Yalone had given him. Then, he swings the laser rifle he carries into his hands and stares ahead as he waits for the fun to start.

A Chimeran tank begins pushing its way through the woods, and you can see supporting infantry keeping close in two files behind it, as of yet you cannot get a count of how many as they stick to cover and the bulk of the vehicle itself. A distant thump on the horizon indicates some kind of rotary aircraft might also be on the way. Currently, the tank is 300m from the barricades (so 350m from the rooftop shooters) , and looks to be taking its time closing with you.

Yalone takes a good long look the tank rolling in slowly... "I hope one of ya'll have an answer for this piss off tank. Them grenades might be our saving grace." "I could try and take some shots on it. I've got a trick or two up my sleeve to lay down some hell. I gotta a feeling that just might make it mad though."

"Shit." Spartos responds, "I'll distribute them to the fighters, maybe a combined strike can take it quick. Save some of those for whatever's coming next, too."

Yalone internal body heat increased slightly as the bullet grew colder, a gentle frost fog coming off of it now. The northern barricade is directly hit, sending smoke and shrapnel everywhere. Two of the rebels standing closest to the barricade are punctured ruins now as wood shrapnel fills their bodies. The Chimeran soldiers behind the tank begin spreading out, now 240m from the barricades and 290m from the building respectively. As of yet they do not fire, concentrating instead on crossing no man's land as quickly as possible.

Rodger grabs his compad calling into it. "Yalone is down he got hit by debris I need help up here he's bleeding out and that tank is still lining up another shot." He dropped the pad back onto his shoulder and lined up his next shot on the tank. "Hang in there, help is on the way. Just have to make sure they don't shoot the rest of this building out from under us."

Penny coughed as she waved away the smoke and dust from the tank shell that had wracked the building. “I’ll keep pressure on their infantry, we’re not letting the cowboy die here!” She shouts over comms before popping out of cover for another shot against the Chimerans. (14 to hit, 11 damage if it hits)

Another of the horde outside falls. Small arms from the barricades join them, and the fire teams are getting their assigned structures alight. The Chimeran advance looks to be faltering.

It goes wide, exploding harmlessly far from the battle- The Chimeran horde begins digging in , unwilling to advance any closer, and now are trading fire with the freed slave militia you've gathered.

"There is a medkit in my pack, you might need it. For now I'm going to make sure this tank doesn't finish us off." Rodger aimed the heavy cutter at the tank hoping to finish it off and break the Chimeran's assault.

There is an explosion as the tank detonates from within. A blue miniature mushroom cloud and scattered fragments of armor are all that remains as the power cell within is breached and overloads.

“ Penny could you please grab the medpack from Rodger for me.” ( holding an action to make a stabilize check once handed a medpack.)

“Got it, on my way!” Penny wasted no time and rushed up the stairs to Roger. She quickly retrieved the medkit from his pack and ferried it to Annie, thrusting it into her hands. “Tank’s down, you’ve got this.”

Rodger moves over to Yalone kneeling near him. "You two keep us covered, I have a few guns and he has a rifle over there I'll clean him up and get through his armor so I can stop the bleeding. I might need to clear his airways if he's been coughing up blood. We should turn his head to be safe." Rodger started to go into action trying to access the damage as best he could and stop the injuries that would kill Yalone first. (edited)

Knowing there was little she could do to aid Yalone's situation, Penny took off to help end the engagement as quickly as possible. She slid into cover and took aim at the remaining soldiers. The panic of losing a squadmate had made her hands shaky. (10 to hit, dont think that lands) (edited)

With their tank gone, and casualties mounting the Chimeran begin to withdraw, moving to 260m away from the command center. They're chased by a ranging shot or two, but look to have lost their nerve to try to take the building without their armor support.

Annie puts a hand on Rodgers shoulder. “ Hey there souldier there’s nothing out here that’s gonna change what you need to do. Focus on that, tune everything out, and know I’m here to support you” she commanded softly as she lifted the headphones rested around her neck and cupped them over Rodger’s helmet where she thought his ears would be. Although there were heroic efforts to save Yalone's life, the would be cowboy turned freedom fighter expires on the crumbling floor of the command center as dust and smoke settle around you. (edited)

Annie put hand on yalone and took a deep breath as her mettle was tested. “ I don’t think there is anything else we can do… Fuck” (edited)

As you begin making arrangements to move the body, word from the NMC ships in orbit is relayed down to you. A cease fire has been called as House Lux and the other Chimeran houses attempt to make an effort for peace. For now, all combatants are ordered to stop.

Once others are ready to take the body Annie takes the red scarf and wraps it around her neck.

Spartos gets back to the command center and sees Yalone’s motionless body on the floor. He opens his mouth to ask the question, then stops as he sees the look on everyone’s faces. He pounds his fist into the wall and leans back against it. “Shit… bastards…”

Penny looks over Yalone and sighs sadly. She shoots a finger gun in his direction one last time. ~~Perhaps she hoped he'd sit up and return the gesture, putting an end to what felt like a cruel joke.~~ "See ya, cowboy. Sorry you're goin' so soon..."

Rodger got quiet he cleaned his hands as best he could before calmly repacking the med kit taking out what looked like a small scanner and looking for anyone he could still help methodically clearing the levels of the building before working his way outside.
